Course Information
Description Instruction in networking technologies and their implementation. Topics include the OSI reference model, network protocols, transmission media, and networking hardware and software
Prerequisites None
Learning Outcomes Alpha. Demonstrates comprehension of content-area reading material (PSLO Alpha) measured by pretest/post-test.

1. Students will develop understanding of computer network systems (PSLO 1) measured by embedded test questions.

2. Students will design and configure computer network (PSLO 2) measured by projects/labs.

3. Students will learn control of network devices and use of utilities (PSLO 2) measured by projects/labs.

4. Students will learn how to manage, monitor, troubleshoot and repair network systems (PSLO 3) measured by projects.

5. Students will learn the value of ethics and security when managing network operating systems (PSLO 4) measured by embedded test questions

Course Policies
Instructor Policies Since there are no office hours I can be contacted by email. My email address is balloukw@lamarpa.edu.

Students must use appropriate e-mail etiquette when corresponding with instructor; for example, complete sentences and a full subject line with your name/course name.

Reliable Internet access is required for all online courses.

Computer failure and lack of internet access are not acceptable excuses for missed assignments, projects, quizzes, or exams. DO NOT wait until the last minute to complete class work or exams.

There will be four major exams and a final exam. You MUST take the final exam. Failure to take the final will result in failure for the course.
Attendance Policy Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Missing a day of lecture can possible cause you to drop a letter grade on tests.
1. Tardiness: Tardiness (more than 5 mins), for lectures or labs, 4 Tardies will count as an Absence.
2. Absences: NOTE: Excused absences (verifiable) are only allowed for an illness that requires you to stay home or a death in your immediate family. 5 absences=drop 1 letter grade, 7 absences=drop 2 letter grades, 9-absences=drop 3 letter grades, 11 absences=F
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
